Writing Challenge 22

This month’s writing challenge offers up a scene that lends itself to a spookier kind of story.

To spark your creativity, The Poisoned Martini features monthly images to get you started.  Such images, because of their visual nature, vividly speak to writers and spark ideas for writing.  The idea is to view the images below and to write a scene, a short story, a chapter, a novella, or maybe even a novel.

Last month’s feature was an exterior shot, taken at night.  The view was of the library at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island.  The hotel, properly known as the Fairmont Empress, opened in 1908.  View the image here.

For this month’s challenge, The Poisoned Martini presents two images, two vantage points of the same scene.  What looks like a dilapidated brick building during the daylight could become the scene of gruesome happenings at night.  Let your imagination run wild and consider what may come of your writing when considering day vs. night.

Happy Writing!

  1. And so where am I going to get jagermeister??!!

I think YOU should make the drink and I will taste it!!!

    • I’ll have to get more though. I used the last of what I had to whip up this cocktail.

And by the way, I also opened up the bottle of Russian Standard Vodka for this one. A solid choice!
