Friday Cocktail

Peppermint Patty cocktail

Peppermint Patty cocktail

A Peanuts character, a minty candy, or a holiday cocktail.  Which is it?  All three, but this Friday try the cocktail, Peppermint Patty!

This one’s been around for a while.  The York candies appeared in the 1970s with the drink making its debut a short while later.  This article (here) gives more details.

What you’ll need:  Vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, White Crème de Cacao, and Cream

In a shaker over cracked ice, pour in 1 ounce each of vodka, peppermint schnapps, and white crème de cacao.  Add in 1 1/2 ounces of cream.  Shake and then strain into your cocktail glass of choice.  Optionally, wet the edge of your glass with lemon juice and rim it with crushed candy cane bits.

Alternatively, you could use white crème de menthe as a substitute for the peppermint schnapps, and for a more chocolate-y appearance, substitute dark crème de cacao.

How I like it:  There’s a couple ways to make this one.  I’ve seen varying recipes online, but I tend to like it with peppermint schnapps.  I also prefer a little more cream in mine than the typical serving.  And on occasion, I’ll use Godiva chocolate cream liqueur in place of the crème de cacao.

Always drink responsibly!
