Here’s a perfect drink for Easter, a Pink Squirrel. Something for the adults to down after the crazy egg hunts.
What you’ll need: Amaretto, Creme de Cacao, Cream, and Grenadine.
Add 1 ounce amaretto, 3/4 ounce creme de cacao, 1 ounce cream (or half & half), and a dash of grenadine to a shaker over cracked ice. Shake and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Add a maraschino cherry for garnish, optionally.
Creme de Noyaux, an almond-flavored liqueur, is the preferred cordial needed for this drink, but this is likely to prove difficult to acquire. Instead, it’s easy to substitute amaretto and grenadine.
How I like it: It’s tough getting a hold of all those creme cordials, especially since quite a few of them are used limitedly in most home bars. That’s why I’ve used amaretto–a little more than the ounce above–and grenadine for the rosy color. If the drink in the photo seems a little brownish, that’s because I used Godiva chocolate cream liqueur, which is a great substitute for those drinks calling for creme de cacao.
Don’t be squirrely, drink responsibly!
